“There are two kinds of people in a product company: those who are building something and those who are selling it.”

If anyone remembers where this old trope came from, let me know (Larry Ellison maybe??).

In case there’s any doubt, this isn’t the way it works anymore..

But there are still only two types of people in a software company:

1. Those that work directly with customers

2. Those who support them

If we make it our mission to understand our customers better than anyone else, and build every process with them in mind - from marketing all the way to finance and everything in between - then it’s almost impossible to lose.

Does your company have this mentality?
